Once the Hallerbos (forest of Halle) was part of an extensive primeval forest within the borders of current Belgium. The first mention of the forest of Halle dates back as early as the 7th century. Needless to say, the forest is a place of rich history, with several lords and kings involved. During WWI most of the forest however was cut down and it took several decades mid 20th century to regrow the forest, resulting in the seemingly rather young forest it is now. Most fame of the forest of Halle is due to the millions of bluebells that cover the forest's floor in spring. In this short period of time, the forest turns into a truly magical place.
