The Jökulsárlón glacier lake is located at the south end of the Vatnajökull glacier in Southern Iceland. The lake is filled with icebergs calving off the glacier tongue Breiðamerkurjökull. Jökulsárlón first appeared in the first half of the 20th century and grew fast because of the heavy melting glaciers. Currently the lake is around a 18 sq km / 7 sq mi in area and about 200m / 650ft deep.
The views of the lake have been used in several movies as substitute to real arctic regions. The James Bond movie Die Another Day being one of them.
