There is no place in the world with so many iconic landscapes as the western states of the USA. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Monument Valley, just a few of the world famous areas within this region. The variety is immense and the extremes are big. Mount Whitney, the highest point in the 48 contiguous states, is only 122km / 76mi away from the lowest point in Death Valley. The western states feature anything from the driest deserts to temperate rainforests, all within easy reach from each other in a couple of days drive. No wonder that some of the greatest photographers of our time were based in these states.
