Sydney is the biggest, oldest and arguably the best known city of Australia. Captain James Cook and the first European settlers arrived at the natural harbour of Port Jackson in the second half of the 18th century. As with many Australian cities, it was gold that initiated a rapid suburban development in the region of Sydney in the 19th century.
Port Jackson, or better known as Sydney Harbour, is the largest natural harbour in the world. Harbour View is an overview of the harbour photographed from Mrs Macquarie's Point. Clearly visible are the world famous Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
