Harbour Bridge

Sydney, Australia

Sydney is the biggest, oldest and arguably the best known city of Australia. Captain James Cook and the first European settlers arrived at the natural harbour of Port Jackson in the second half of the 18th century. As with many Australian cities, it was gold that initiated a rapid suburban development in the region of Sydney in the 19th century.

Port Jackson, or better known as Sydney Harbour, is the largest natural harbour in the world. This photograph is taken from across the Sydney Central Business District near the Sydney Luna Park. It frames the world famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
