Great Ocean Road, Australia

The Great Ocean Road is a well known stretch of road along the southern coast of Victoria, Australia. Along the road there are several prominent natural coastal landmarks that draw many visitors to the region each year. The limestone stack formations of the Twelve Apostles enjoy great international fame, but there are many more spectacular rock formations just outside the coast.

This stretch of coast is ever changing due to rough nature of the ocean. High winds and pounding waves slowly eat away from the bases of the fragile rock stacks. Every so often the weakest rock stacks collapse and the views once again changes.

The rock stacks seen in Rush are the Twelve Apostles photographed from the beach below the viewpoint. The beaches along this stretch of coast can get cut off when high tides are coming in. A good reason to be extra alert and to leave the beach in time before the waves surround you.
