Winter

18 January, 2012

Finally we had some proper winter weather here in the Netherlands the past two nights. Unfortunately it's not meant to last...

But I did get some shots while it lasted. This one is from yesterday morning, photographed just north of Amsterdam. Hoar frost on the fields, thin layer of ice on the lakes, temperatures below 0 - just how I like it :). The sky was filled with contrails, which is usually quite a pain for photographers. Especially when you're trying to shoot more natural, wild or remote landscapes and they just don't match with the rest of the scenery. But I think they work quite nicely with all the man-made lines in this Dutch polder landscape. And they lit up nicely in the early morning sunlight too.
